rob was an enigmatic recording artist from ghana who cut two albums for the legendary essiebons label in 1977. neither of these were big domestic hits at the time and have since become prized amongst collectors in recent years. the title track from this lp was always one of the most popular on the first soundway release ghana soundz and over the years soundway has been asked many times to re-issue the lp in its entirety.

originally released in 2005 to coincide with the release of ghana soundz vol 2: afro-beat, funk and fusion in 70s ghana, this 12 inch vinyl sees two tracks from that release re-edited and re-mixed by natural self. joe mensahs >africa is home< is subjected to a re-edit, stretching the groove for added dance floor pleasure. side b, oscar sulleys lively afro-beat number >olufeme< is remixed with baritone sax and flute added to the mix.

>world music< is the second 12 inch from washington, dc based protect-u. as the title suggests, protect-u grooves to global soundz, but this newest release–once again brought to you by future times–is total mutant house/techno. on the a-side, synth lines bubble like 80s-style francis bebey, then burn up into a space-pulse overdrive. the flip, >u-uno<, is an underwater electro-sitar dream straight outta 24th century india, followed by a slo-mo dub of >world music< that slips back and forth between digital jamaica and european nu-romance.
